My Backyard Critters

First of all, thank you to those who expressed their pure delight at my return (um, perhaps an exaggeration, but I have to make myself believe I was missed LOL )

My backyard critters were happy to see me though because they were having a party out there this afternoon.  I couldn't capture the bluejay because he wouldn't sit still and the lizards were too fast. I am sure Mr Black Snake was out there somewhere. Probably lurking on the side yard as usual.

So this was originally the page for me to post my photography such as it is.  I don't really know what it is since I don't get much feedback, but it is something I enjoy and that is all that counts to me. I don't stress over having perfect composition or color or clarity, because then it becomes a chore and not a pleasure.  I do this because it makes me happy and relaxes me, so if that is selfish, well so be it !

These handsome fellows are recent additions to the slew of critters that visit. I'm not sure what they are other than blackbirds.

This pair of cardinals come around at various times during the day. My granddaughter refuses to believe the red one is the male. She says "girls are supposed to have color and boys are brown". I will convince her one day that with birds it is different. I love the way they feed each other. I used to think it was only the male feeding the female, but then I saw her feeding him one day. Sweet :-)

I have three squirrels but this one is dominant, therefore he/she is the fattest. The other two are rather scrawny since this one chases them away unless it is feeling benevolent :-)

Here is "Woody" who only recently got comfortable enough with me to come close enough to eat. He posed quite nicely for me today.

And finally, I was getting ready to mow the grass earlier and was picking up my granddaughters yard toys. This rather ugly toad jumped out of a little boat as I picked it up and scared the you know what out of me.  I'm just glad he landed on the cover to her sandbox and not on me !

So there you have it. My simple and mundane life captured on a memory card ~

    1. Ohhhhhh, I hope I never get a skunk in my back yard. There are some here in town though because on occasion at night I can smell one if I go outside. I thought it was probably a female, but wasn't sure

  3. ... I like to take pictures ... snap shots, actually. I am not ready to have them critiqued, though, so I seldom publish them ..

    1. I've seen some of yours and they are always good , but I understand why you would not want to publish them online. People are so brutal sometimes !
